This is the first in a series of WordPress Beginner’s Tutorials for those who’s site is already set up.
If you or someone else has set up your site with the correct settings, theme and plugins you’ll be ready to start writing.
This video will show you around the new post window, and how to add text and images.
How Often to Publish Blog Posts
Regularly publishing blog posts is one of the best ways to get your site known and listed in the search engines. I recommend that you have 5 or 6 posts already written and ready to publish before you start publicizing your site. At least to start with, publish a new post no less than once a week, more if possible. Don’t just write for the sake of it because quality content is vital.
At least 500-600 words. Any less and search engines may penalize your site for thin content.
Images are attractive to readers and to search engines. Include at least one image per post. Always add alt tags to an image. The video below will explain this.
Laying out your posts
Short paragraphs are easier to read online and more likely to keep your readers’ attention. Using bullet points and numbered lists also improves the layout. .
Use some headings for layout reasons as well as the search engines. These should include keywords but I’ll go into that in another post.
